02Ecosystem and brand building
A healthcareconferencein Hamburg
01Before planning anything
What I’d want settled first
Outcome
What matters most to us: the brand, customers for the portfolio, founder relationships, or money?
Audience
Who has to be in the room for that to happen?
Attraction
What would make them travel to Hamburg and pay to be there?
Learning
What worked at our four events, and what has to change?
Scope and money
Can we deliver this with the team, budget and time we have?
The slides that follow tell one possible version of it: Revent as the place where founders, buyers and investors in healthcare actually meet each other.
02The audience
Who needs to be in the room
Founders, including our portfolio
Why we need themNew products, real experience, and future investments.
Why they would comeMeet buyers and investors, show the product, learn from other founders.
Providers and payers
Why we need themClinical leads and the people who sign off on purchases.
Why they would comeFind something that fixes a real operational problem, and hear how others implemented it.
Established healthcare and tech companies
Why we need themDistribution, infrastructure, partnerships.
Why they would comeSee what is new, meet partners, share what they know.
Healthcare investors
Why we need themCapital, sector knowledge, networks.
Why they would comeMeet relevant founders and understand what customers are actually buying.
A few researchers, policymakers and experts
Why we need themCredibility, and context on what is about to change.
Why they would comeTalk to the people putting it into practice.
Young professionals, students and volunteers
Why we need themHands to actually run the event, and talent the startups in the room are looking for.
Why they would comeAccess to a room they would not normally get into, and the companies they might want to work for.
03The promise
Why anyone would come
In one line: meet people who can move your work forward, see technology that works, and learn what it takes to put it in place.
Speakers worth the trip
Three or four names with something to say, plus founders and operators with concrete experience.
Content you can use
Product demos, inputs, and masterclasses you book in advance.
The right people
Introductions we make ourselves, networking by topic, and free time built into the schedule.
An event that works
Clear communication, a well designed programme and the processes around it, good food, rooms people can find.
Ideas for the setup:
- Main stage, panel stage, demo room, workshop rooms
- Sessions in blocks, so there is time to talk
- Startup pitches
- Pecha Kucha presentations
- A hackathon
- Speaker dinner the night before, evening programme after
04Research
What we can learn from other events
Each visit gives us a read on:
- What goes well at a conference like this
- Which formats we could adapt for ours
- What to copy, and what to avoid
- Contacts worth following up
- Inspiration for our own programme
- How the good ones run things, both in general and on the content itself
05Delivery
The plan
Q4 2026, define
Review the past events, talk to people who attended, agree the goal, the audience, who owns what, and the financial limits.
Q1 2027, foundations
Venue, producer, anchor speakers, healthcare organisations, sponsors, draft programme and ticket prices.
Q2 2027, sell
Website and ticketing live, announce who is coming, partners and marketing running, demos and masterclasses recruited. Partner events and smaller flagship formats in a few hubs in the run up, so the conference does not start from nothing.
Q3 2027, prepare
Programme, suppliers, staffing, speaker logistics, attendee matching, contingency.
The event
Run it, look after speakers and meetings, collect feedback.
After
Follow up on introductions and portfolio opportunities.
06Success
How we would know it worked
- Visibility
- Is Revent known as the host, media and social reach, and did the audiences we cared about show up?
- Portfolio value
- Buyer introductions, follow up meetings, and commercial opportunities that came out of it.
- Future investments
- New founder relationships, the ones that kept going, and investment discussions.
- Attendee value
- The mix in the room, and a short survey afterwards on whether the meetings were useful and whether they would come back.
- Commercial
- Revenue against full cost, whether we stayed inside the agreed loss, and whether sponsors want to return.
